Personalized Learning
There are several sites that allow teachers to sign up their students so that they are engaged in learning at their own level and at their own pace. I highly recommend the following FREE tools for skill practice. In math, give Front Row a try to orchestrate differentiated instruction. Students earn coins and can spend money to purchase items to increase engagement. https://www.frontrowed.com I also like iPractice Math at http://www.ipracticemath.com to track student progress.
For reading, SAS Curriculum Pathways offers Reading Records as a free site and app in iTunes. https://www.sascurriculumpathways.com/portal/Launch?id=8007 Students can be given assignments according to their lexile range. For older students, Read Theory is great for reading comprehension practice. http://www.readtheory.org
I realize that personalize learning in the classroom requires thinking outside of the box when compared to a traditional learning environment. I envision personalized learning as providing students with autonomy and tapping into their interests versus basic skill practice. These sites provide teachers with some free options that offer a differentiated approach to learning the basics.

BlendSpace
You must take a look at BlendSpace if you haven’t done so already! It’s a wonderful way to blend content together to create a lesson that incorporates multi-media components. Share your creation with students AND use it as a presentation tool in front of the class. Sign up for free AND enjoy the free iOS app that goes with it. Share your blend with me if you are from Southern Hancock and I’ll send you a cool techy gift via corporation mail!!
